Terms of Service

Effective date: August 13, 2026

1. Agreement to these Terms

Start Time is operated by Home Pulse Technology LLC, a California limited liability company (“Home Pulse”, “we”, “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Start Time website at starttime.io, the Start Time mobile apps, and all related services (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that any registration information you provide is accurate.

3. Your account

You sign in to Start Time with a Google or Apple account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account and for keeping access to your sign-in provider secure. Notify us promptly at privacy@starttime.io if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

4. What Start Time is (and isn't)

Start Time is a coordination platform: it helps people create and join sports groups, organize recurring and one-off events, fill open spots, and communicate with other participants. Events on Start Time are created and run by users — not by us.

We do not organize, host, supervise, or operate any event listed on the Service, and we do not vet, endorse, or guarantee any user, organizer, group, or venue. Any interaction you have with other users — online or in person — is at your own discretion and risk.

5. Assumption of risk

Start Time is built around physical activity. Sports and exercise carry inherent risks, including serious injury. By signing up for or attending any event you found through the Service, you acknowledge and accept those risks voluntarily.

You are solely responsible for evaluating your own fitness, skill level, and health before participating in any activity, for using appropriate equipment, and for assessing the conditions, location, and other participants at any event. If you have any doubt about your ability to participate safely, consult a physician first. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Home Pulse is not liable for injuries, property damage, or other harm arising from events or activities coordinated through the Service.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you post on the Service — events, group descriptions, photos, messages, posts, and profile information (“User Content”). By posting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute it as needed to operate and improve the Service (for example, showing your event to people nearby, or your photo to group members).

You are responsible for your User Content. Only post content you have the right to share, and do not post content that infringes anyone else’s rights.

7. Acceptable use

When using the Service, you agree not to:

  • harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users, or post abusive or hateful content;
  • impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • post spam, commercial solicitations, or content unrelated to organizing activities;
  • collect other users’ personal information or use the Service to stalk or harm anyone;
  • attempt to probe, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure;
  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You can report any message, post, photo, or profile directly in the app, and you can block any user — blocking hides your content and theirs from each other across the Service. We review reports within 24 hours; content that violates these Terms is removed, and we suspend or eject users responsible for abuse.

You can also report problematic behavior or content by email to privacy@starttime.io.

8. Automated access and bots

The Service — including its application programming interfaces (APIs) — is intended for personal, human use through the official Start Time apps and website. Except with our prior written permission, you agree not to:

  • access the Service by automated means, including bots, scripts, robots, spiders, crawlers, scrapers, browser extensions, or offline readers;
  • scrape, harvest, or collect data or content from the Service — including profiles, event listings, rosters, group member lists, and messages — whether or not you are signed in;
  • create accounts, send messages, RSVP to events, join groups or waitlists, or otherwise generate activity or engagement by automated means, or use automation to simulate human activity;
  • call our APIs other than through the official Start Time apps, or circumvent or attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other technical access controls;
  • send requests to our servers at a volume or frequency that a human could not reasonably produce using the official apps;
  • use content or data obtained from the Service to train, fine-tune, or develop machine-learning or artificial intelligence models.

Good-faith indexing of our public marketing pages by general-purpose search engines, in accordance with our robots.txt file, is permitted. We may throttle, block, or suspend access that we reasonably believe violates this section, without notice. If you would like to build something on top of Start Time, we’d genuinely like to hear about it — ask us first at privacy@starttime.io.

9. Organizers, events, and costs

If you organize events on Start Time, you are responsible for the accuracy of your event details (time, location, capacity, skill expectations, and any costs) and for complying with the rules of any venue you use.

Some events list a cost — for example, splitting a court fee. Start Time does not process payments today; any money changing hands is arranged directly between participants and organizers, and we are not a party to those arrangements.

10. Paid features

Parts of the Service may be offered as paid subscriptions or premium features. If so, pricing and billing terms will be presented to you before you purchase, and those terms will apply in addition to these Terms.

11. Termination and account deletion

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from your settings. When you delete your account, we handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us or other users, or if we discontinue the Service. Where reasonable, we will give you notice.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that event information posted by users is accurate.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Home Pulse and its members, managers, and employees will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of one hundred US dollars ($100) or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Home Pulse from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, your participation in or organization of events, or your violation of these Terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in this section prevents either party from bringing an eligible claim in small-claims court.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you — for example by email or an in-app notice — before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
